Travel Theme: Metal – Basel’s Jean Tinguely

This week’s Ailsa’s challenge reminded me of one of my favorite sculptors, Jean Tinguely. The photos I am posting were taken at Museum Tinguely, located in Basel, Switzerland. Tinguely’s multicolored sculptures resemble huge machines. When in motion, the noise they make is almost deafening.

  1. Not only fantastic choices for the theme but absolutely fascinating. When you were at the museum were the pieces moving? I was going to say it could be mesmerizing for children but I think for adults too. 🙂

    • Thank you, Sue! Your comments encourage me to keep posting. Although I consider blogging a rewarding and fascinating mean of expressing oneself and sharing, I can’t help wondering from time to time, whether what I’m writing is interesting at all, or makes any sense.
At the museum, next to each sculpture was a floor button. By pressing it, you could get the machine in motion. They were really loud! Now that you mentioned it, you are right! I had forgotten how exciting it was for our daughter. Museum Tinguely should be among the top-5 things to do in Basel for families with children!
