I took this photo during our last year’s trip to India. Before heading south to Goa, we stayed for a couple of days in Delhi, in Amarya Haveli, a quiet, little guesthouse, very near the trendy Hauz Khas Village, one of the areas of the Indian capital, I particularly like. Hauz Khas means “Ancient Water Tank” in Urdu, and it is a peaceful oasis of quirky shops, restaurants, and cafés. I highly recommend it, especially if you visit Delhi with small kids, like we did. Old Delhi can be an intimidating place for the family’s youngsters, but in Hauz Khas Village, a parent can be relatively at ease.
Complete your exploration of the commercial part of Hauz Khas, with a stroll along the quiet park where the old ruins are. There is something romantic about the place, which explains the presence of numerous young couples, walking, or sitting on the walls, enjoying the view over the pond.
Another good reason for visiting Hauz Khas Village is the southern Indian restaurant Naivedyam. I am a big fan of southern indian cuisine, and Naivedyam is one of my all-time favorites.
